Dr Whitaker is founder and medical director of Riverside Eye Center in Auburn, Maine. He received his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, University of London and started his career as an engineer working as part of a team developing components of the space shuttle for NASA. He attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh and ophthalmology residency at the Eye Institute, Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He served as chief of the medical staff at Stephens Memorial Hospital and for several years served on the Process Improvement and Executive committees there. He has a teenage daughter and son.
