Objectives: At the conclusion of this conference the resident will have an understanding of the principles of spectacle correction of vision and will be able to solve problems related to

• correction of ametropia with spherical and cylindrical lenses
• astigmatism
• cross cylinders
• cylinder transposition
• obliquely crossed cylinders

Reading Assignment: Please read David Guyton's Ophthalmic Optics and Clinical Refraction pages 28-34, Loshin Chapter 6. Please work the problems in the attached problem set before the conference.
