At the completion of this conference, residents should understand the rationale for cataract surgery, its exact indications, and patient specific factors that dictate when cataract surgery is appropriate.  In addition, proper informed consent for cataract surgery will be discussed and demonstrated in detail.  Residents should feel comfortable leading an informed consent discussion for cataract surgery at the completion of this conference.
