"Intravitreal Anti-VEGF and Pregnancy” Dr. Emily Deschler is an ophthalmologist working as a medical retina specialist/comprehensive ophthalmologist at the Southeast Permanente Medical Group in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from Johns Hopkins Medical School in 2008 and completed her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2012. Following her residency, she completed two fellowships: the first in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins and the second in medical retina at the Joslin Diabetes Center’s Beetham Eye Institute in conjunction with Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Deschler was appointed Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University’s Havener Eye Institute in 2014. She relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and began working at the Southeast Permanente Medical Group in 2016. She is involved with the Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network during her fellowship at the Beetham Eye Institute and also at Ohio State, and will continue to be involved in the publication of medical studies surrounding these protocols.
In addition, Dr. Deschler is committed in her contribution to medical training through medical student and residency programs, and hopes to extend her clinic to include underserved communities around her practice area.
