Objectives: Upon completion of this conference the resident/student should be able to:
- Describe the clinical approach to the patient with pupillary disorders including:
- anisocoria
- irregular pupils
- light near dissociation
- afferent pupillary defect
Assignment: Please read The Patient with Pupillary Abnormalities, Ch 10 of the BCSC series.
In addition, it will be helpful to review:
- Neuro-ophthalmic anatomy, the section on "Ocular Autonomic Pathways" - Ch 1, page 10
- The Patient with Decreased Vision: Evaluation, the section on Pupillary Testing - Ch 3, page 12
